The cultivated acres are comprised of a medium quality class 3 – 4 dark brown soil. Soil texture varies from clay loam to loamy sand. The higher land around the yard site is the most productive soil. Lower spots are prone to flooding with some saline conditions. Entirely seeded to lentils in 2017. The alfalfa on the NE 5-33-13-W3 was seeded in 2009. The remaining hay acres are older than that and have mostly reverted to grass. All grazing parcels are fenced primarily with 3 strand barb wire and contain water or have access to water (6 dugouts & 1 sand point well).
